Robbie’s Ode to Quarantine

Ode to Quarantine
Here among the worn books,
And the discarded notes.
A half-finished puzzle,
Champagne Beer and a piƱata.
Closed windows and locked doors.
Surrounded by misinformed dread.
Xenophobic values and persistent fear.
The people who are comfortable taking it slow.
The people who have lost everything blow by blow.
Helpers, healers, and lovers.
Only you could throw us through this loop.
Only you could launch half of a country into unemployment.
Only you could rob us of so many loved ones.
Yet, with your destruction, you leave a residue of beauty.
You are the reason we will embrace each other as hard and long as we do.
